Dirk Van Erp emigrated from Holland to San Francisco where he established a now famous coppersmith shop making household products. His designs have come to be synonymous with the West Coast Arts & Crafts Movement. Van Erp''s lamps consisted of hammered-copper bases and shades or translucent mica treated with shellac to give them an amber cast.
