Jonathan Adler fell in love with pottery at an early age after taking a class at summer camp. Though he attended Brown University, Adler confesses to spending most of his time at the Rhode Island School of Design inspired by high fashion icons like Chanel. After his first order from Barney's, Adler quickly learned that he needed help. He met Aid to Artisans in 1997 who introduced him to Peru and the wonderful artists who would become the powerhouse behind production. Stores opened soon after across the country. Jonathan Adler lighting and furniture designs have a sort of highbrow humor and irony. They've got a youthful spirit, but the technique behind the design is quite mature and professional. His mid-century modern lighting style is colorful, kooky and contemporary and adds instant personality to a space. The line definitely has a happy, groovy factor going for it, which is so easy to love.
