My wife purchased a fixture for our kitchen table that kind of fits our room but it came with 18 each 60 watt incandescent Edison type bulbs. The existing 300 watt capacity dimmer got extremely hot. My electrician said I would need a 1600 watt dimmer which cost almost as much as the fixture. I found the 1100 watt Legrand dimmers on Capitol lighting's website. It just covered the max capacity. After installation it also go hot. Legrand sent another one and it also got warm. After speaking to Legrand tech support they explained that per UL the dimmer was safe up to 140 degrees F. And you should only use up to 80% capacity as well. We rarely would use at 100% anyway, it's very bright. It would be nice if Capitol provided this information and also made it clearer that the switch plate was not included. Fits a standard single gang box but face is over size so I wound up with some extra switch capacity should I ever need it. I have a lot of lights.
