From our humble beginning, when Max Lebersfeld, an electrical contractor and recent immigrant from Austria-Hungary, opened a small light fixture store in Newark, NJ in 1924, Capitol Lighting has always been a family owned, and operated lighting retailer. In 2002, Capitol Lighting was given the award for New Jersey’s Family Business of the Year.
